Super Nintendo World has recently released a new teaser for the upcoming opening of the "Super Mario"-themed park in Japan on February 4, 2021 featuring the "Mario Kart" ride, which will surely excite the fans.

Universal Studios Japan has delayed the park's opening as coronavirus pandemic froze the economy amid safety and health concerns. According to Nintendo Life, its opening was originally scheduled in the summer of 2020 in time for the Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Since 2015, Universal Studios Japan has been working on The Super Mario World and the video gave fans a sneak peek of what adventures to expect as they will seem to be stepping inside a Super Mario Bros. game.

Universal Studio Japan Official YouTube channel  posted a video showing the "Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge", which is billed as "the world's first interactive "Mario Kart" theme park ride." The attraction is set inside the intricate Bowser's castle where in four guests will ride in a replica kart wearing augmented reality glasses.

The AR glasses will allow guests to actually see shells being thrown to kick out opponents and let them to fully immerse in the game even though they that drive the kart freely as it is on rails.

Journalist Kurumi Mori shared on Twitter some of her views about the new theme park on Twitter, saying the following.

She noted that guests can find a giant Bowser statue inside the Koopa's castle with themed walls, banners, doors, lights, and ceilings as well as a trophy room lined up along the ride. "Every rider is given a slim headset with a visor, presumably for AR," Mori said on her tweet.


She also said that each "Mario Kart" could carry four seats while each seat bears a steering wheel. Riders get to have certain control on the kart even when it is on rails. With two rail tracks, it is possible that karts could be racing with each other. "The course uses AR, projection mapping and other tech for immersion," Mori added.

Meanwhile, each ride promises to provide a unique experience for visitors who could race through various scenes such as an underwater, a lava level, Rainbow Road, a spooky area, among other.

Power-Up Band and Yoshi's Adventure

The video released new details and photos of the Nintendo-themed area in the Universal Studios Japan with some attractions are shown for the first time. Also, Ars Technica reported about another attraction called Yoshi's Adventure that features a hidden colored eggs quest with Captain Toad will also be available in the park. Both Yoshi's Adventure and Mario Kart rides will take about five minutes.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios said in a press statement that guests in the Super Nintendo World can also buy a "Power-Up Band" for about $30 (¥3,200so they can get scores as they knock off blocks, collect virtual keys and coins as well as "using their entire bodies in dynamic activities throughout the land."

After completing he quest, those who bought Power-Up Band will have to fight against Bowser Jr. in a "dramatic boss battle."

Meanwhile, following coronavirus restrictions, Universal Studios Japan currently operates at reduced capacity, but the company assures the public that there is sufficient personal space to ensure social distancing while waiting time on popular attractions is relatively short.
