Apple recently released its "Christmas Surprise" that has been long rumored and speculated to be part of the 2020 lineup, the Apple AirPods Max over-ear headphones. Just when you think Apple is done, the most valuable technology company took the public by surprise with an announcement and introduction video drop that featured the latest addition to the AirPods line. However, this release would be different from its predecessors as it carries on the over-the-ear headphones' design, only taking the Bluetooth and music quality of the AirPods.

According to Apple's YouTube Channel, the flagship headphones are called the "AirPods Max," not the "AirPods Studio," as the long-running leaks, rumors, and speculation's initial scoop of the product. The new device is available for pre-order on Apple's website, soon releasing in a week on December 15.

Apple's premium flagship headphones from the AirPods line comes with a hefty price of $549 right off the bat. The hefty hitting price tag of the Apple AirPods Max almost prices itself like the iPhone 12 Mini, which starts at $699. However, the headphones' specs are worth its costs as Apple packs the AirPods Max with top-tier performance.

The Cupertino giant recently cut off its tie with a long-running partner, Beats by Dr. Dre, the famous electronics equipment company specializing in wireless music experience via Bluetooth. The company was also founded by famous NWA Rapper and Producer Dr. Dre.

Apple AirPods Max vs. Beats: Specs and How It Differs from Known Brand

Former partner, now turned rival is what can be said with Apple's venture of 2020 with the M1 Mac ARM-based Silicon which trashed Intel, and now with the AirPods Max vs. Beats by Dr. Dre. The famous California-based music company is a known and established brand in music, whereas Apple's new over-ear headphones are relatively new.

According to The Verge, the main specs of the Apple AirPods Max are its 40mm drivers, which proves "rich deep bass, accurate mid-rages, and crisp, clean high-frequency extension" with the headphone. The sound signature of the Apple headphones provides a balance among most sound types present but would not sacrifice highlighting each quality found in music.

Adaptive Equaliser (EQ), Audio Sharing, Spatial Audio, and Transparency Mode are also part of its spec sheet, all present in the AirPods earphone line. Additionally, a more accurate volume adjuster and controls come to the AirPods Max, resembling the Apple Watch button and Digital Crown.

Rivaling the Beats Solo Pro and Studio Wireless 3, all headphones feature the active noise-canceling feature, wireless connection, button controls, and superb quality on the microphone for calls and voice command. Apple's AirPods Max also puts itself alongside AKG, Bose, Sony, and the like in terms of specs and price range.

Apple's most formidable foe is the former Beats headphones, which cater to Apple products, particularly with its Lightning connector charging method. Specs-wise, both headphones do not differ much from each other, but AirPods Max's 20-hour battery life, removable mesh, and overall sound signature already give Beats a run for its money.
