"Cyberpunk 2077" is only days away from its worldwide release date, and even gamers who prefer the Linux operating system would get a chance to play the action RPG dystopian game from CD Projekt Red via Steam Play Proton. Steam Play's software developers recently released a version that provides support and availability of the highly anticipated title.

CD Projekt Red's most anticipated title, which is almost eight years in the making, "Cyberpunk 2077," would also come for the Linux operating system used by select PC owners and specialists. The third and mostly under shadowed OS would soon feature the popular game on its platform, the same day as the world would receive it.

According to Phoronix, the release came as a surprise for gamers and users of the Linux OS alike. However, this release is a blessing in disguise for people who prefer Linux OS and computer gaming, instead of launching the Windows OS or using a console to experience the game.

The release of the Steam Play Proton 5.13-4 is a unique occurrence in the gaming world as developers of the online video game distributing platform would not update for the sole purpose of accommodating a game. However, in one of the gaming industry's most awaited titles, Steam Play's Linux counterpart received an update and version that would support the game.

The open-world role-playing game (RPG) would be releasing tomorrow, Friday, December 10, across all the platforms it supports, including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, Windows PC, and now, Linux OS. CD Projekt Red would soon release a PS5 and Xbox Series X specific version, but the games would be available via backwards compatibility.

'Cyberpunk 2077' Linux: Steam Play Proton and Hardware Requirement to Run

Being on Linux means that users might know their way in the computer's language's specific codes and customization. If not, better learn if planning to download and play CD Projekt Red's "Cyberpunk 2077" because it needs more downloads and requirements than imagined.

Unlike Windows OS's download and play function, Linux OS users would need a particular computer setup to run the new RPG game. The first requirement would be downloading Steam Play Proton 5.13-4, which is available online.

GitHub offers the download of Steam Play's Proton 5.13-4 version, along with its source codes and complete package. However, according to the release, it requires one more system, which would be harder to get. The catch for running "Cyberpunk 2077" on Linux OS uses AMD's Radeon graphics processing unit (GPU).

Without AMD's Radeon GPU that runs on the Mesa 20.1-devel Git, paired with Steam Play Proton 5.13-4, the game would be useless and inaccessible. Users would need to get their hands on the AMD Radeon graphics (if not already using) and set it to the Mesa git language.

Secure all the requirements for Linux OS to enjoy "Cyberpunk 2077," right on its December 10 release date.
