At the beginning of your "Cyberpunk 2077" gameplay, you will be asked to customize V, the game's main character. Everything is customizable, from the gender, appearance, and even the voice, giving you a unique gameplay experience.

'Cyberpunk 2077' Customizing V

But apart from customizing V's appearance, you also need to choose their life path and, finally, customize their attributes, which refer to the five core stats in the game.

Each attribute governs a set of skills, and each skill has its own set of perks.

According to Eurogamer, the five core stats in "Cyberpunk 2077" do three things: increase individual stats, unlock specific perk progression trees, and provide some in-game capabilities.

Meanwhile, the skills refer to the abilities V will have in the game, including combat and crafting, and lastly, the perks are the selection of specific bonuses and additional skills that will be available to "Cyberpunk 2077" gamers once they unlock a particular skill.

Remember that each skill is associated with a unique perk tree, but it's available anytime, so you can check which perks you want to have based on your gameplay.

If you know what perk tree you want to pursue, you can focus on the skill and attribute governing it.

'Cyberpunk 2077' Max Level Core Attributes

The five core attributes are the following:

  • Reflexes - Governs the Handguns, Assault, and Blades skills and perk trees. It increases movement speed, Mantis Blade damage, crit chance, and evasion.

  • Body - Governs the Annihilation, Athletics, and Stree Brawler skills and perk trees. Increases max health, melee damage, stamina, unarmed damage, and reduces bullet spread and movement penalties. It can also dictate whether you can rip locked doors and similar feats.

  • Technical Ability - Governs Engineering and Crafting skills and perk trees. Increases armor by 5% and allows you to use turrets and tech weapons and unlock some doors.

  • Intelligence - Governs Quickhacking and Breach Protocol skills and perk trees. Increases Cyberdeck RAM capacity by 4%, quickhack duration and damage. It also dictates whether you can hack certain terminals throughout the game.

  • Cool - Governs Cold Blood and Stealth skills and perk trees. Increases all resistances, monowire damages, crit damage, stealth damage, and reduces enemy detection. It also unlocks some cool-headed dialogue choices.

Before you allocate the initial attribute points given to you, you need to remember that the attribute level will dictate the maximum level that an individual skill can achieve.

For example, if you have a level 5 Technical Ability, that means your Crafting skills can also be maximized to level 5. If you want to achieve a higher level of Crafting skills, you need to invest more attribute points to V's Technical Ability, increasing your passive stats.

All of the attributes can be leveled up to level 20.

'Cyberpunk 2077' What Core Stats Should You Choose?

Now, where do you allocate those first points to? Unfortunately, you will only have 7 points that you need to distribute among these five attributes, and you're only allowed to set a maximum of 3 points to a single core stat during this time, while skills can go from 3 to 6 points max.

When it comes to distributing the points, it's basically what you deem fit based on your gameplay.

If you're into close combat and want more melee damage, then putting more points on Body seems the best way to go--it doesn't really matter since as you progress through "Cyberpunk 2077," you'll have more idea where you want to put the attribute points you earn.

However, there are several things during the early game that can be helpful if you focus on certain attributes, for example:

  • You can disarm a mine as an additional option during the free Brick quest during "The Pickup" if you have 7 Technical Ability points.

  • You can have additional dialogue choices with 4 Reflexes points and 6 Cool points early in the game.

  • You can also hijack cars with 4 to 6 Body points.

These are just some of the possible minor changes that can happen during the early game, so again, experiment with the core stats a bit to find the best attribute build for your specific version of V.

The more attribute points you invest to a certain core stat, the more perks will be available for you.

'Cyberpunk 2077' How to Earn Attributes, Skills, and Perk Points

So, how do you earn attribute points?

When you level up V, you will be rewarded with one attribute point and one perk point, which means you can upgrade one core stat and one specific perk of your choice.

Moreover, you can earn extra perk points by leveling up some skills, such as Blades.

You'll know which skills provide what rewards by checking any of the skills, then checking the skill progression bar at the lower left of the screen.

But how do you level up skills?

You can level up a specific skill by gaining enough skill proficiency experience, which you can earn by performing a particular action attributed to the skill, such as using the Mantis Blade or knives and katanas to increase the Blades skill.

Practically, "Cyberpunk 2077" is a game about choices, and you have the freedom to create your own version of V that correlates to how you enjoy the game best.
