Apple has been releasing new system updates for the iPhone and MacBook. The tech giant manufacturer launches these updates to bring fixes to certain issues and deliver new features that users can really enjoy.

Aside from the latest iOS 14.3, Apple also released the latest macOS Big Sur 11.1. The latest software update brings some new features to Apple's range of MacBooks. These include support for the newest AirPods Max, Apple's new headset.

Users will now have a better sound experience since the latest macOS brings high fidelity audio for rich sound. It also provides adaptive EQ. According to Geeky Gadgets' latest report, this adapts sound in real-time to the personal fit of ear cushions. 

Active Noise Cancellation is also introduced to block out environmental noise. Because of this new feature, you should expect a better sound experience during calls or just listening to your favorite music. Here are other features you should know. 

macOS Big Sur 11.1's new features

  • macOS Big Sur 11.1 introduces Apple News widgets. This feature is currently available in Notification Center. 
  • The latest computer system brings an all-new Apple TV+ tab. This makes it easier for users to watch and discover Apple Original movies and shows. 
  • MacBook users can now browse by category, such as genre. They can also see suggestions and recent searchers, thanks to the system's enhanced search feature. 
  • macOS Big Sur 11.1 also brings a new privacy information section on App Store pages. It includes a developer-reported summary of the app's privacy practices. 
  • M1 MacBooks now support iPhone and iPad apps. 
  • The newest MacBook system adds Ecosia as a search engine option in the Safari browser.  

Should you upgrade? 

9to5Mac reported that there are certain factors you should consider before you upgrade to the latest macOS Big Sur 11.1. First, you should identify if you have critical apps you are using daily. Users must check the system's compatibility before deciding to upgrade. If you're okay with the initial issues and bugs, then it's okay to upgrade to the macOS Big Sur 11.1. If you have a second laptop, it is advisable to update it first and check what happens. This will allow you to decide properly if you'll upgrade your main MacBook.
