2020 was the year when practically everyone stayed at home, including workers who were lucky enough to still secure their jobs despite the pandemic and were able to work from home, which definitely has its fair share of advantages.

However, it's not surprising when soon enough, remote working became quite as stressful as working in an office.

Besides the occasional (or sometimes frequent) funky connection, hardware issues, and hour-long Zoom calls, it can be frustrating at times to see nothing but the same four walls each day, all day long--but Nissan might soon have the solution for that very problem with the "caravan office pod."

The Japan-based car manufacturer introduced the NV350 caravan, which also serves as a portable office pod where you can bring your work anywhere you like.

According to DigitalTrends, the car has several features, including an area where you can relocate your office, complete with the desk and then the high-end Herman Miller Cosm office chair, at the back of the van so you can work outdoors, say the beach or a campsite near the river, where the sound of the water can relax you and make you more productive.

Nissan has also created a smartphone app that basically allows you to control the retractable office pod.

From a Built-in Coffee Station to a Rooftop Deck

Based on the concept video they have published, all you need to do is tap something on your smartphone and then the office pod will come out from the back of the van, giving you the perfect view when you work.

The pod also includes a polycarbonate floor, so you can see the ground beneath you.

When it's time to chill and have a break, you can climb on top of the van for a rooftop deck, where you can prop a beach umbrella and then lounge in what seems to be a built-in lounge chair.

The rooftop deck is accessible via an interior staircase.

What's more, there's a built-in coffee station, which you will be needing if you want to survive hours of work.

There are a few other features, such as an electric shade, and AC/DC inverter, and a compartment with a built-in UV antibacterial lamp, where you can store and then sanitize a few things, such as your gadgets, to ensure you don't bring any outdoor bacteria, germs, and viruses into your home--an essential and in-demand feature brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

When Will it be Released?

So, when does Nissin release the NV350 caravan office pod?

Unfortunately, the caravan office pod is still a concept design and there's no word if the company will actually start making them and how soon they can produce them for the masses.

Also, will it still be possible to work remotely once the van is launched, especially when the pandemic might be ending sooner, thanks to the COVID-19 vaccines?

Alas, nothing is known yet, but it certainly is fascinating to see Nissin's concept design and whether the pandemic is over or not when they finally launch the van, the office pod can be a great investment if you end up loving the work-from-home setup.
