What You Need for 'Fallout: New Vegas' Frontier Mod

"The Frontier" is by far the biggest and most expansive mod ever created not just for "Fallout: New Vegas" but for the entire franchise.

The mod's developers believe that even the oldest fans of the classic Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda title will enjoy.

As of now, the "Fallout" mod is only available on Nexus Mods, where you can get the list of recommended add-on tools that you would need, such as the New Vegas Script Extender, New Vegas Script Extender (xNVSE), the 4GB Patcher, Johnny Guitar NVSE, the User Interface Organizer mod, JIP LN NVSE Plugin, the Mod Configuration Menu, and the New Vegas Anti-Crash.

"Frontier" will soon be available on Steam, but the developers are still fixing some issues.

If you haven't downloaded and installed any mod from Nexus Mods yet, you might want to wait for the Steam build since it's easier and all you need is to download it from the storefront.

Of course, you'll need a "Fallout: New Vegas" game first, along with its four DLCs.

How to Install 'The Frontier'

But if you can't wait to play "The Frontier" mod, YouTuber DarkPopulous has made an in-depth video on how to install the mod, including every recommended add-on tool we've listed above.

He also recommended having a ZIP file extractor since most of the tools you need will be compressed in this certain type of file.

Here's the video so you can start with your installation:

The YouTube user recommended using Mod Organizer 2 for the mod manager, which allows you to install mods, but if you have been installing mods before and use a different mod manager, you may use that as well.

After that, you can proceed with the installation of xNVSE.

Once you have downloaded xNVSE, you can now open your mod manager, and then open the "Fallout: New Vegas" installation directory, where you will need to transfer all the files inside the xNVSE file you've downloaded.

Up next, you'll want to install the 4GB Patcher, then do the same with the xNVSE and drag the files within the folder to the "Fallout: New Vegas" installation directory from your mod manager.

The next mod you need is the Johnny Guitar NVSE, which can be downloaded in two ways, with the instructions on how from DarkPopulous, then you can download each of the mods left before starting with the installation of "The Frontier" mod.

How to Start Playing 'The Frontier'

You can follow along with the YouTuber to ensure you correctly install the mod.

Once you have everything installed, it's recommended to play the base game and save a new game file, then play until you reach level 11.

By that time, an NCR rep would show up, which leads you to Portland, where "The Frontier" mod is set, and then simply enjoy.

The whole process of downloading the "Fallout" mod may take some time, but it's worth it since you have practically a whole new game in your hands.
