McDonald's Drive-Thru Secret

As one of the biggest fast-food chains not only in the United States but around the world, tons of people visit the place for some of its "world-famous fries" or some McDonald's burger, but with the number of cars driving-thru each day, how is it that employees never seem to mix up your food?

That's what the TikTok video from user @katieeclarkee is all about, who is an employee at McDonald's.

In the TikTok video, it turns out that McDonald's installs cameras around the drive-thru area, and during one of her shifts, Katie decided to show the cameras in action and how it helps them keep track of who's who.

The 17-year-old McDonald's employee says that the camera takes a picture of you and your car, and once your order is taken, a snapshot is taken and will be linked to an order.

This helps employees match the order of the car in front of them.

They Can Also Hear You

So, the next time you order at a McDonald's drive-thru, remember that they may see in your car, with Katie joking: "So maybe don't pick your nose when you order because we see it and we judge you."

According to Mirror, the TikTok video has become viral and has already been viewed more than five million times on the platform.

It turns out that the teen was often asked about this, so she decided to make a TikTok video to explain how it all works, and as expected, people's minds were blown, with one user saying that they had no idea there were cameras in the area.

Other employees of the fast-food chain also chimed in, revealing that they can actually hear what's happening inside the customers' cars the moment they pull over and activate the sensor, which then turns their headphones on.

With the knowledge, you might want to keep your discussions purely McDonald's related when you're driving-thru.

Nevertheless, it seems like the whole camera thing is a new concept since one TikTok user commented on the video, saying that they used to work at McDonald's last year, but they didn't have that back then.

Another user shared the same sentiments, saying that the branch they currently work in is "not that advanced" and that they simply have to "figure it out."

Most likely, these types of secrets depend on the specific fast-food branch, so what happens with Katie may not exactly mean it's happening at every McDonald's branch.

More Employee Secrets

This was not the first McDonald's secret that has been revealed via TikTok.

Last year, a TikTok video also grew viral after an employee shared some of the secrets at her specific branch, including saying that the ice cream machine is broken even though it's not just to avoid re-filling the shake mix.

More of the secrets have been reported by Insider.
