The Wyze Cam v3 is now available for purchase after its very short launch-day website issue. However, that $20 launch price that the company advertised and got consumers enticed has not panned out.

Currently, the only way to purchase the camera is with a Cam Plus subscription, which can then cost you almost twice as much, depending on how you do it. Also, when sales open more later, the cam still won't be sold for $20.

Wyze Cam v3 features

The Wyze Cam v3 relies on an included weather-resistant adapter for its power. The camera is the same size as the previous Wyze Cam, it has a white plastic finish but Wyze made some upgrades to its specs and design, according to Business Insider.

The speaker on the back of the camera allows for an 80-decibel siren, while the microSD card slot and the setup button underneath the camera have been covered in order to protect the buttons from elements.

Wyze Cam v3 also has field of view from 110 to 130 degrees. It improves the camera's performance in low-light conditions and it lets you press the "Speak" button to use two-way talk from the Wyze app, instead of having to hold the button down to speak.

Wyze Cam v3 price

Right now, there are two ways that you can purchase the camera. The Cam Plus subscribers already paying for a subscription can pick one up for only $20 and $5 additional for shipping, according to CNet.

Everyone else who wants the camera will need to purchase it for $35 plus $5 for shipping for both the camera and subscription or you will need to subscribe to Cam Plus separately which is $2 a month or will cost you $15 a year and qualify for $20 for the Wyze Cam v3.

Additional cameras on top of the $35 price will cost $20 only, so you can add one camera that costs $35 to your cart and then load up on the $20 versions. The camera does not need Cam Plus for it to operate, so you can purchase one for someone else or cancel your subscription after buying it.

Wyze claims that they adjusted the pricing because of issues with components and that things will change as soon as the supplies even out.

However, even if the supplies are available, non-Plus subscribers won't get the camera for $20. The stabilized price for non-subscribers will be $24 plus $5 though it will remain $20 for Cam Plus subscribers.

This could be frustrating for some consumers who were looking forward to purchase the camera for $20, which was the original price advertised, according to SlashGear.

Basically, Wyze's original claims that the new camera would not raise prices over the previous version, which ran a flat $20 without any required subscriptions, is not true. Consumers either pay more by the mandatory cost of Cam Plus, or consumers pay more later for $24 non-Cam Plus pricing.

However, no matter what, everyone pays more than the $20 that Wyze originally claimed in 2020, and more than the $20 people paid during the original pre-order schedule.
