One of the beloved god-killing games that was popular on the PlayStation 4 is getting a massive upgrade. The PS4 exclusive, one of the best of them, is going to be upgraded to the next-gen along with improved graphics and visuals.

'God of War'  60FPS PS5 Patch Update

Sony will be releasing a brand new free PS5 optimization patch for the popular 2018 "God of War" starting tomorrow. This update will be giving players an excuse to go back again and replay the game while waiting for the sequel to come out some time later this year.

With the given update, the console will be able to render the popular game title in what can be noted as a new-gen standard. The game will be able to run at 60fps or frames per second as well as 4K by its initial default!

For those that have already tried playing "God of War" on the PS4 Pro, players might be able to remember that they had the option to set the game to either target a whopping 4K resolution or something more of a smoother frame rate. The PS5 would be capable of giving players the best of both of these options.

If for whatever reason some players would still prefer playing the game at a lower 30 frames per second, players will be able to do this by selecting the brand new Original Performance Experience option. However, this might be a bit rare and people might just try this out for experimentation purposes.

'God of War' upgrade for disc version

The announcement was seen on the sms.playstation website which gave a detail regarding how the game would be upgraded. The interesting side of this particular note is that players would be able to technically already run the game at an upgraded 60fps and 4K if they already own the said disc and have also stopped their PS5 from downloading any given updates for the game.

"God of War" already shipped out with an unlocked frame rate, which the popular developer Santa Monica Studio had later changed in a given patch to smooth out the inconsistent performance on the game's PS4. Now, it was said that there is no need for this specific work around anymore.

Upgraded games

The story was reported by Engadget and with the "God of War" 2018 game getting a graphics upgrade for the next-generation PS5 console, there could be a possibility that other games would do the same. An article by IGN notes the other games that have been given updates for the PS5 allowing them to run in 4K graphics but not revealing the new fps.

With the games noted in the article all adjusting to PS5 standards, the new 60FPS 4K performance and graphics could push further into being a required standard for PS5 games in the future.
