Google Photos now has more than 30 video editing tools that users can enjoy, giving them an improved experience. However, the tech giant firm decided to make it exclusive, preventing millions of fans from using them.

According to Forbes' latest report, Google Photos' new video editing tools are only available for those paying Google One customers. The new editing features allow users to crop their videos. Furthermore, they can also conduct tonal adjustments that include contrast, saturation, brightness, and more.

These tools are great additions to Google's popular video and photo service since it has been significantly hard to adjust and tweak videos compared to images. The new controls ensure the users with improved Google Photos video editing experiences.

Google Photos' new video editing tools

Since Google Photos previously had limited features for editing videos, Google decided to release new video editing tools to bring much of Google's photo editing experience to video. The new features are expected to add more creative control without resorting to external video editing applications.

This means you don't have to use Adobe Premiere, Adobe Lightroom, and other complicated video editing software. As of the moment, it is expected that the new users can access the new video editing capabilities in the iOS app. On the other hand, Android users might have to wait for an update in the coming weeks. Google has also announced that the redesigned photo editor is set to appear on iOS in the coming months.

Although this is the case, users should be paying a Google One customer. Google's innovation clearly shows that the tech giant company is moving away from the original free-to-use model into a two-tier system, where only paying customers can enjoy the best features.

Google's decision is not that surprising since it was able to squash its key competitive advantage of unlimited photo storage, allowing it to attempt to build its customer base with other features such as these new subscriber-only editing functions.

Google Photos' previous updates

According to Toms Guide's latest report, Google also previously added Blur and Color Pop features, which are all available for Google Photos users. On the other hand, Google One subscribers may need to apply them to pictures of people regardless of whether there's depth information or not, unlike the normal Google Photos users.
