The upcoming game "Elden Ring" is reportedly similar to the gameplay of "Dark Souls" coupled with a creative narration from the "Game of Thrones."

What's interesting is "GOT's" writer George R.R. Martin's involvement in the rumored game, which is expected to be a blockbuster release once it hits the market.

'Elden Ring' trailer released in 2019

It was in 2019 when the "Elden Ring" trailer was released. The adventure game trailer was narrated in the eyes of a person who already saw the history of the civilization that started way back an era similar to the "Dark Souls."

FromSoftware, the video game developer took inspiration from the best-selling novel of Martin, "A Song of Fire and Ice." However, even though the trailer came out for over a year now, its release date is not yet revealed.

In a report by CNET, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of the game, said that they have begun developing it in 2017. Miyazaki continued that this will be a role-playing game that borrows elements from other RPGs.

"This title will include a wide variety of weapons, magic, and ways to engage enemies, that makes it possible to provide users with a style of gameplay and strategy that suits them," Miyazaki said during the interview.

The Japanese videogame designer added that while it is comparable to the "Dark Souls" franchise, "Elden Ring" will have so much to offer like changes in missions and minor updates when fighting opponents.

During that time, Miyazaki said that "Elden Ring" will be an open-world fantasy game, so players will have an endless exploration for side-quests and main missions.

George R.R. Martin's Role in 'Elden Ring'

In a report by Screen Rant in January, Martin is among those persons who helped shape the upcoming game. Miyazaki said that Martin has been assigned for the creative writing of "Eldern Ring," which was based on mythology and world history. Moreover, the dungeon master's guidebook is also said to come from Martin.

Fans could only hope that Martin can exceed their expectations since the author has impressed them during the time when "Game of Thrones" was trending.

Miyazaki mentioned that the game's drama, narration, and characters were all from Martin, and the game is expected to be a plot-turning franchise upon its launch.

The Leaked Trailer this Month

It's been 18 months since the first trailer came out, and FromSoftware has only remained quiet for the time being.

The new trailer of "Elden Ring" was uploaded this March, which appears to be a 112-second short clip that shows glimpses of the demons in the game. In addition, the watermarked clip also displays some in-game combat features like horseback.

For the "Dark Souls" gamers, this leak is only growing intriguing. The past leaker said that the trailer is only used for internal purposes.

The game is also reportedly having a multiplayer feature where players can battle others. There could be also a co-op mode where players can play with others to accomplish a particular task.

For its release date, it still remains 'TBA,' but it is likely that it will be launched for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its cross-playability is still unconfirmed at the moment but if it happens, PS4 and PC players can also be able to enjoy this game.
