Genshin Impact Version 1.4: Celebrate the Windblume Festival With a New Character

Genshin Impact, the hit open-world RPG game from miHoYo, is set to welcome its highly-anticipated Version 1.4 update this coming Mar. 17.

As the springtime sets in the real-world, the nation of Mondstadt will be celebrating its Windblume Festival in the game's magical world of Teyvat. As Version 1.4 releases, players can enjoy fun new features- including a new dating sim mini-game and a new 4-star character named Rosaria, the "Thorny Benevolence."

Accept the Invitation of Windblume

"So, Traveler. The Mondstadt Windblume Festival. Do you like it?" opens the Version 1.4 trailer for the upcoming "Invitation of Windblume" event. The trailer, uploaded on Mar. 6 on the Genshin Impact YouTube channel, features a variety of mini-games related to the event. This includes a set of obstacle courses, a freefall gliding challenge, a rhythm-matching game, as well as a balloon-shooting event.

Patch notes and event discussions have revealed that there are varying difficulty levels for each of the games, rewarding successful players with Festive Tour Tickets. These tickets can then be redeemed in the Event Shop for Talent Level-Up Materials as well as two new event-exclusive items: the Windsong Lyre and the Windblume Festival Commemorative Balloon.

Additionally, it has a dating sim mini-game where players can spend time with Barbara, Bennett, Noelle, and Chongyun. The event promises a variety of endings and memories that depend on your choices and interactions with each of the four characters. Every actual ending unlocked on the dating sim segment rewards the player with a Hangout Memory Illustration.

Rosaria: A New Player to Wish For

Another anticipated update in Version 1.4 of Genshin Impact is the new 4-star character, Rosaria the Thorny Benevolence. Armed with her polearm, the ghostly cold character is a member of Mondstadt's Church of Favonius - which might be a familiar establishment for players who have gone on adventures with Albedo in Dragonspine.

The new Cryo character has teased some of her moves in the same Version 1.4 update trailer, which includes Ravaging Confession, which allows how to instantly move behind the enemies and attacks them with her polearm, and Rites of Termination, which has an active and a passive Cryo damage to enemies.

Genshin Impact was developed and published by Shanghai-based video game company miHoYo, first released last September 2020 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4, with mobile ports available for both Android and iOS devices.

The game takes place in the fantasy world of Teyvat, a place where magic converges and is home to seven different nations - each being the focus of a particular element. Players take on the role of The Traveler - who was separated from his/ her twin by a still-unknown god in Teyvat. As the players search for the lost twin, they soon become involved with the affairs and problems of the seven nations, enlisting the help of various characters from different parts of the world.

As an open-world RPG, it allows players to control any of the four characters in a pre-set party. Since they can swap characters in the middle of the game, it allows them to create unique combinations of skills and attacks.
