A PlayStation 1 fan was able to create a new hack that allows other players to run copied games on various hardware revisions of the classic gaming gadget. However, it won't work on the oldest hardware versions of PS1.

According to HackaDay's latest report, the new exploit called Tonyhax was first found on a classic buffer overflow found in the "Create Skater" mode of popular games "Tony Hawk 2," "Tony Hawk 3," and "Tony Hawk 4."
However, the hack developer encountered a major issue. This happens when the game sees a custom character saved on the memory card. After that, it will automatically load the name field to display it on the screen.
Once the process is complete, the name issue will appear since the developer didn't check the title length. However, Marcos Del Sol Vives, the hack's creator, was able to fix this issue so that the name can be used to load an executable payload into the console's memory. How the new PS1 hack works
The payload that the new exploit contains could be anything. This means that it can contain a homebrew game. On the other hand, Marcos decided to focus on games burned to CD-Rs. Why? Because he developed a simple tool that unlocks the console's optical drive.

To start the process, you need to download the tonyhax tool. After that, you can simply swap the authentic "Tony Hawk" disk for any burned games you want to play. You can even access the games that span across multiple discs.
