The new Apple Watch is viewed at an Apple store in Manhattan on April 10, 2015 in New York, New York. Consumers around the world were able to try on the long awaited smartwatch on Friday and to place orders. On April 24, consumers will be able to buy it online or by appointment in select stores. The Apple Watch sport starts at $349 with the standard version retailing at $549 in the U.S. Luxury "Edition" watches with 18-karat gold alloys will be priced from $10,000 and will go as high as $17,000.

According to MacRumors' latest report, the patent titled "Display Module and System Applications," which was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, shows a rounded watch face, digitally-customizable watch bands, and a wrap-around flexible display.

The company's newly released document claims that the new display could wrap around the user's arm. This means that this technology has a high-flexibility feature since most displays are usually only foldable.

"Accordingly, curvature of the flexible display panel in both the watch face area and band may be adjusted to conform to the wrist size of the use," said Apple via MacRumors

"The display area of the flexible display panel can cover more available space on the watch face area and band of the smartwatch," added the giant manufacturer.

How Apple Watch's alleged bendable display works

Apple explained that the next-gen Apple Watch could have a display with a plurality of interconnects, which extend through the display substrate from the front surface to the back area. On the other hand, it is also expected to have an array of LEDs that are electrically connected with the plurality of interconnects.

Aside from these, the alleged bendable display will also include an ambient light sensor, a battery processor, and other essential components that the next-gen Apple smartwatches need.

However, Apple confirmed a possible issue with the new display. The company explained that the flexible smartwatch screen could be sensitive to moisture and air degradation if it won't have a protective rigid glass cover. This will certainly be a design issue, especially if the user has a sweaty arm.
