According to TheVerge, "It Takes Two" from Hazelight is Fares' third game, following "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons" and "A Way Out."

In another tribute to "A Way Out," the game is an exclusive co-op, requiring players to play together on a couch or over the internet. The studio did not even consider including an AI companion.

Communication forms the basis for "It Takes Two," which tells the story of a husband and wife facing divorce who are then magically transformed into a pair of Pixar-Esque dolls and forced to deal with their differences through the magic of a talking book.

"A Way Out" offered a thematically compelling narrative reminiscent of a crime story but was let down by sluggish gameplay that didn't take full advantage of the game's cooperative nature.

"It Takes Two" flips the script: The game tells an intriguing yet bizarre story, but it makes good use of the cooperative element.

Each character tends to combine abilities between levels, for instance, a level that requires players to split their time between shooting sap and igniting it.

"It Takes Two" is a much more complex game than "A Way Out." For starters, it is a platformer, and although it does not require players to be perfect, it does prove a bit more difficult to pick up in comparison to "A Way Out's" simplicity.

  • If it appears that you need to crouch, you probably do so-Press B/Circle to crouch.
  • If you are having trouble finding your way, look for yellow. This game uses yellow to indicate where you need to go - yellow buttons and levers, yellow levers, and more.
