It only took four minutes and 55 seconds for a "Super Mario Bros." player to break the two-year world record using NES (Nintendo Entertainment System).

Since 2018, there is a growing dispute whether the "impossible" stint could be surpassed until a Twitch streamer broke the barriers of impossibility and impressed all the players worldwide.

Even though "Super Mario Bros" remains one of the most classic games that lives today, many have tried to set their shortest time to beat the game. They believe that it is just easy to nail a perfect nail-biting result for the world, yet this could still take them some time to strategize.

From the speedrun leaderboard of "Super Mario Bros," there are only 12 players who landed their records at the 4:55 mark at the time of this writing. We are only talking about the millisecond difference for these players, and that tells us that even the slightest second added could have a big impact on their standing.

Currently, through the help of the speedrun tools, it is always possible that a player could surpass what he got last time. However, what remains as a question here is whether a human could surpass its capabilities which demand perfect control and optimization or not.

According to CNET's Oscar Gonzales, the popular Twitch streamer who overcame a 4:54:948 clocking in "Super Mario Bros" video game is Niftski. Currently, he is the player who has the fastest record this 2021 in the "Any%" category.

The former world record in the said category was held by the UK's Miniland, who notched 4:55:230 ms two months ago. In "Any%," you could freely use glitches and tricks to accomplish the game in the quickest time.

"This is insane. It hit me, but it hasn't hit me fully," Niftski said during his stream.

To achieve this super feat, Niftski's time save tackled the 8-1 flagpole glitch, where .35 seconds were saved upon going to 8-4.

For those who do not know what the flagpole glitch is, it is a popular trick in "Super Mario" where the glitch involves Mario holding the flag. If you successfully do this, you could now finish a certain level without lowering the flag.

However, be mindful that if the glitch is in effect, Mario could only acquire 100 bonus points which is the price that you should pay for such an advantage. That does not mean that even though the glitch applies to the game, you could easily pull it out.

With that being said, you have to consider the "sub pixels" in your journey. These are used to estimate the coordinates of Mario when talking about pixels.

The first world record which is under five minutes was accomplished a decade ago. Imagine playing endlessly until it took you 11 years to beat "Super Mario" in only five seconds. That's the kind of commitment that players dedicate to the community.
