The Samsung Galaxy Z Slide could be the next smartphone to be added to the fancy Z line of the company. The South Korean company filed for the trademark of "Z Slide" in Europe on May 21.
The description of the Z Slide, however, is similar to the other recently trademarked phone, the "Z Fold," LetsGoDigital reported.
Also part of the Z series are the Galaxy Fold 2, and the Galaxy Z Flip. The two foldable smartphones have been a massive success as it has positioned Samsung on top of the market of the said device type.
The success of both devices is not stopping Samsung. It is now preparing for another product that will introduce a fancy feat to the market. At least, that is what the recent trademark suggests, LesGoDigital said in the same report.
Samsung Galaxy Z Slide: The Slidable Phone
Samsung Electronics trademarked the "Z Slide" moniker in the European Union Intellectual Property Office or the EUIPO.
Interestingly, the file mentioned an S Pen. The South Korean foldable phone maker has not yet included the said pen in any phones in the Z series. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to bear it.
It Could Be Another Name for the Rollable Phone
Also, Samsung recently trademarked the "Z Roll" in Europe as well. Interestingly, the Z Slide carries the same description that the suspected rollable phone name has. So, the possibility of Z Slide being another name for the future rollable phone could also be a near possibility.
It could be that Samsung is preparing for both a rollable and a slidable smartphone.
However, according to LetsGoDigital, Samsung -- in its history -- has sold almost all products that were trademarked commercially.
On the other hand, GizmoChina noted that the Z Roll will have an extendable display that expands horizontally based on its trademark filing. The Z Slide will expand its screen vertically instead.
We could then be expecting two separate devices to launch in near future.
