LONDON, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 01: A woman leaves Google's UK Headquarters on November 01, 2018 in London, England. More than 1,500 Google employees around the world staged a walkout protest earlier today in response to the company's handling of sexual harassment cases.

To make it clear, the lawsuit was initially filed in 2017 against Google, with the initial proceedings only considering a handful of employees who have experienced gender bias. However, in recent developments, it was elevated to a class-action lawsuit, with over 10,800 women testifying against the inequalities they allegedly experienced in the tech company.

Google has faced a lot of lawsuits on its run, and this includes different types including that of Antitrust claims against them by the SEC, inter-company disputes, patents, and more. However, Google is also popular for employee disputes, which have all stressed out that the internet company has alleged malpractices present.

Google company court case ruling

Individuals have been piling up the courts for their claims against Google's gender inequality, having their personal experiences of said alleged mistreatment from the company.

Due to this, the court has elevated the case as a class-action lawsuit and making the proceedings as one, having more than 10,800 women raising their beef against Google (via Bloomberg).

Additionally, a plaintiff of the case against Google, Kelly Ellis, has released her reaction via Twitter (@justkelly_ok), saying that she was surprised that the court has granted them class-action. Ellis added that this development on the case was "HUGE," and that the company would have to face a massive lot of its employees claiming discrimination in compensation.

Google Defends Company, Saying Salary Practices are Equal

According to Cnet's report, Google said on Thursday, May 27, said that it has been practicing equity in pay rights or salary practices within the company.

This was after the recent gender discrimination suit against Amazon, which also pointed out the company's pay discrimination that based itself on gender biases.

The lawsuit about pay discrimination among gender has started in 2017, and the number of women joining together to submit their claims to the court has granted it class-action status. Now, Google would have to face the claims and testimony of at least 11,000 women it allegedly wronged by not providing a just compensation during their employment.
