They explained that this period is more than enough for hackers to fool you into opening them. Barracuda, a giant security agency, claimed it will take more than three days before the email service identifies these malicious links. 

Aside from these, Barracuda's security experts and researchers also explained that an average firm or company with 1,100 employees or workers experience around 15 email threats each month. To help you further, here are other details that Barracuda found. 

Malicious Emails Target 3% of Employees

Right now, users usually receive email messages from unknown contacts or people. One of the email mistakes you can make is opening the link in an unknown message. However, one of the things you can practice is deleting email messages sent by one of your contacts.

According to TechRadar's latest report, around 3% of the employees across the world will click a link sent through a malicious email. If they are using their company's system, this could lead to a serious data breach, affecting the business. 

On the other hand, Barracuda warned various companies and agencies that it takes an average of 16 minutes for users to click on a malicious link. However, there are still some things you can do to prevent this from happening.

How to Prevent Malicious Emails 

The Tech Republic previously reported some things you can do to prevent malicious emails from breaching your company's system. However, security experts said that doing these methods can be a resource-intensive process. 

They added that the best thing that a company or business can do to prevent sudden email breaches is integrating the right habits and tools. If you want to keep your company's system safe, here are the things you need to practice:

  • Integrate your incident responses where possible
  • Train your users to help them identify email threats
  • Use threat hunting tools to investigate email threats
