WHO (World Health Organization) claims that Delta, one of the newest COVID-19 strains, could become the most dominant variant across the globe.

If this is true, many countries could suffer from it since medical experts and other scientists are still studying other capabilities of the new coronavirus strain. As of the moment, the new COVID-19 Delta Strain has already infected people in around 74 countries, including the Southern states.
Because of this, WHO now fears that it could be the most dangerous and infectious amongst the current strains. Meanwhile, WHO confirmed that the new variant caused 90% of the new cases, first detected in India.
On the other hand, authorities also said that Delta is also found in other countries, including China.
WHO Fears COVID-19 Delta Variant
According to Market Watch's latest report, the new COVID-19 variant was able to double its infected cases every two weeks. Scott Gottlieb, the former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner, claimed that Delta causes at least 10% of the new cases in the United States.

"That doesn't mean that we're going to see a sharp uptick in infections, but it does mean that this is going to take over," said Gottlieb.
"And I think the risk is really... that this could spike a new epidemic heading into the fall," he added.
The concern about Delta is now increasing, especially since various countries are now lifting their COVID-19 safety measures against the ongoing global pandemic. These areas include California.
Vaccines Effective Against COVID-19 Delta
On the other hand, some experts claimed that some vaccines are quite efficient against the new strain. These include AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines.
NJ True Jersey reported that this info was confirmed by two new studies, which examined the vaccines' protection against Delta. Public Health England claimed that Pfizer has 92% efficiency against it.
On the other hand, the study published in The Lancet medical journal confirmed that AstraZeneca offers 60% efficiency.
