Leica is getting into the smartphone game with Leitz Phone 1, but the initial reaction and looks at the phone suggest it is a distinct clone or a "rebadged" Sharp Aquos R6. Indeed both smartphones have identical features and that Leica's effort at making their first-ever mobile device may be something from another company, but at least the company tried.

When talking about Leica, the first thing that comes into mind is cameras, and that was what the German manufacturer was initially known for, and has been successful in for a long time. However, as the times evolve and change, so does their branding and focus, hence Leica's move into the smartphone distributing and manufacturing industry as well.

Huawei is one company that is known to sport Leica's lenses for its smartphone camera, and it has been successful to bring both names into being internationally renowned. It highly clashes with another camera lens for smartphones and another tech, which is another German company that is known as Carl Zeiss, but who was the first to develop its smartphone? Leica.

This unveils is one for the books for Leica, and its Leitz Phone 1, which is a smart device that was named after its late founder and leader, Ernst Leitz. The device is a great homage to its creator, marking a new milestone for the optics manufacturer, especially as it has focused its technology and other products more on lenses for viewing.

Now, instead of being limited to supply their massively popular smartphone camera lenses, they get to put it in an actual device that they can call their own. The device has been reviewed by a lot of tech influencers who put it side by side with the Sharp Aquos R6 and are not hiding the fact that the company has only rebadged the smartphone by the Japanese tech manufacturer.

The most significant change in terms of external looks is the massive round camera lens in the back, which is now a Leica lens fitted device, compared to that of the square-type camera Sharp's. Both sports the Leica lens, only having a few changes in the design touches of the new device.
