Self-confessed Leica enthusiasts will be delighted to know that the company has lifted the veil off its new Q2 camera.

This compact full-frame snapper comes with nifty features, including its ability to capture 47 MP photos and, yes, 4K videos.

Specific Features And Specifications

It's worth noting that Q2 rocks a higher resolution as opposed to its predecessor, the original Q camera, which was unveiled back in 2015. Specifically, it rocks 47.3-megapixel full-frame sensor and 4K video mode.

The Leica Q2 is packed with a Maestro II image processor, making it possible to shoot up to 10 frames per second. It also boasts an ISO range of 50-50,000.

Touting a non-removable Leica Summilux 28 mm f/1.7 prime lens on the front, the camera comes with a new 3.68-megapixel OLED viewfinder. This feature allows one to have a live preview of their subject with "higher contrast" and "improved image depth."

Leica says its new Leica Q2 is "the only camera in its class" with water and dust resistance as it features "protective sealing." Thus, it is expected that it can withstand "even the most unfavorable weather conditions."

"For brilliant, true-to-life moving pictures, the new Leica Q2 offers a 4K video mode with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and frame rates of 30 or 24 frames per second," says Leica in a blog post.

That's not all Leica is putting to the table, it also boasts an integrated Wi-Fi module, allowing one to easily share their captured photos and videos in social media. With this feature, users can even remotely control the camera's shutter release and change camera settings using a smartphone. To sweeten the pot, it also features a Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) that connects the camera to a smartphone.

A Whopping Price Tag

Those who are interested to get their hands on the new Leica Q2 have to get their money ready. This camera comes with a whopping $4,995 price tag. As a point of comparison, when the Leica M camera was made available to the market back in 2015, it carried a $5,195 price tag.

The Leica Q2 is available on the market via authorized Leica dealers.

At any rate, this new camera is definitely a welcome treat to photography enthusiasts, especially Leica fans.
