United Airlines has gone wireless, and would soon offer Bluetooth connectivity for their in-flight entertainment aboard the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft which they recently purchased for their lineup. Soon, users would no longer need to use the cheap headphones or bring wired earphones on their trip to connect audio to the visuals they see on the headrest.

This venture is part of United's latest improvement of their services, as they bring in new aircraft to their lineup, which features a more comfortable flight experience, and better fuel efficiency on trips.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - FEBRUARY 05: A passenger arrives for a United Airlines flight at O'Hare International Airport on February 05, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois. United Airlines and American Airlines, two of the nation’s largest carriers, are anticipating having to furlough thousands of employees as both companies continue to see a pandemic-related lag in air travel.

United's press release recently revealed that it has ordered a massive fleet of 270 Boeing and Airbus aircraft, which it would add to the mix of its current lineup. This would update the old planes which the company has, and would bring new technology for the passengers and crew alike, debuting comfort and better flight experiences.

The order is as follows: 50 models of Boeing 737 Max 8, 150 models of Boeing 737 Max 10, and 70 models of A321neos. These aircraft would feature a seat-back entertainment screen for every seat, meaning that everyone would have a chance to catch an available in-flight movie or listen to music that is curated on its playlists.

And to top it all off, United's latest purchase does not stop there, as it brings modern technology into the mix for its entertainment services.

United Goes Wireless with Bluetooth

That new form of technology in United's new aircraft is the addition of Bluetooth connectivity on each of the seat-back entertainment modules, which would be readily available to connect on passenger's devices. According to airline writer Jason Rabinowitz, United's Boeing 737 Max 8s would soon debut Bluetooth connectivity on its flights.

This means that users may be able to use their Bluetooth headphones or earphones for in-flight entertainment, and no longer need a wire to connect. Additionally, this no longer requires use of the free headphones that are provided by the staff, which has a drop in performance compared to the readily available Bluetooth headphones that one possesses.

Are all Bluetooth Headphones Compatible?

Currently, there is no way of knowing what Bluetooth headphones or earphones will work. This will probably be available soon on United's website, especially its eligibility to be used on a certain system or to work together with the entertainment system.

Most Bluetooth headphones are version 4.0 and above, and this should be available to connect on most systems of the same version.
