Samsung's web version of Smart TV Plus, the company's free streaming service, has finally launched. South Korean tech giant has also made the service available on all Chromecast devices for more people to enjoy.

Samsung Smart TV Plus Web Launch

The Smart TV Plus was previously limited to Samsung TV and Samsung mobile devices. According to Protocol, the company launched the web service in the second quarter without any proper announcement.

The Smart TV Plus is the latest addition to the growing list of streaming services, and its app is available to anyone and not just to Samsung users.

The Verge reported that Samsung refused to comment about the launch of the web service. It is unknown why the tech giant does not want to publicize the launch of the web version of their streaming service.

The unexpected move could mean that Samsung wants to look for different ways to bring its streaming service to a much larger audience.

Samsung TV Plus was first introduced in 2015, and it has been available on Smart TVs since 2016, but the rollout to additional devices outside of Samsung's ecosystem makes it a direct competition to other streaming services such as Peacock, the Roku Channel, Pluto TV, or Plex.

Smart TV Plus Adds More Content

Before launching on the web, Samsung added more content to its streaming service and expanded it to 10 more countries in April. The Smart TV streaming service is now available in 23 countries.

According to Samsung Newsroom, the TV Plus service is now available in India, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, and Portugal. Users from around the world will be able to enjoy better mobile app experiences and exclusive arts contents.

Samsung's Smart TV Plus has become one of the fastest-growing streaming services in the world as it delivers instant access to sports, news, entertainment, and more. It comprises more than 1,000 channels worldwide.

Users in India can access the TV Plus streaming service on all Samsung Smart TV models that were launched from 2017 to 2021.

On March 30, the regional Samsung TV Plus service launched 27 additional channels, including 22 global channels and 5 Indian local channels, including 9xm, Republic, and The Q.

Samsung TV Plus App Expansion Aside from the 10 new regions that were added to the TV Plus service, users can look forward to a more refined TV Plus app, new Smart TV features, and the launching of art and lifestyle content on the platform.

The TV Plus app was launched in the United States in 2020, and it was expanded to the United Kingdom, Germany, India, and Canada in April.

TV Plus app users in Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, and Austria is expected to get the TV Plus App within this year.

The app's Player UI was also updated, and users can now enjoy a simpler player bar for intuitive control.

Users can also enjoy more video-on-demand content for free on their Samsung Smart TVs and download the mobile app.
