TikTok videos these days cannot only entertain and become avenues of self-expression and even income, it can also help you to get to know an olympian. With the games ending in a couple of days, you may want to grab this chance with the help of a viral TikTok video which is open for everyone.

A TikTok user recently went viral after sharing a Tinder hack that lets you connect with the athletes participating in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The hack is actually not very complicated to do at all. It simply involves getting a Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold subscription.

TikTok user and comedian Reed Kavner shared the Tinder hack on his TikTok account. His TikTok post reads, "I paid for Tinder Plus so I can swipe in the Olympic Village and date an Olympian."

According to CNN, having a Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold account allows users to access Tinder Passport. Tinder Passport lets users swipe through profiles of other users from different parts of the world.

So all Kavner did was to set the pin on the Olympic Village, which is located in the area of Harumi in Tokyo.

"This was just one of those things where I kind of thought: 'Oh hey, this is probably not how this Tinder feature was intended to be used, but we know that we have this concentration of people in this one area. Let's see what happens if we drop the pin there,'" Kavner said as quoted in the CNN report.

Kavner's TikTok video of his Tinder hack shows profiles that are said to belong to athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics. These athletes include Canadian swimmer Katerine Savard and Grete Gaim, who is an Estonian biathlete.

As of writing, Kavner's TikTok post has 6.8 million views and counting. Other users have shared their success after following Kavner's Tinder hack.

TikTok User's Tinder Hack Eventually Backfires

While Reed Kavner's Tinder hack initially worked, it eventually backfired as more and more people saw his TikTok video.

"What did genuinely surprise me is that so many people went and tried it out themselves, and I immediately saw the effects of that as I was swiping on the app. And, I saw more and more people who were neither Olympians nor Tokyo locals," said Kavner, as quoted in the CNN report.

The TikTok user also said that he found user bios proclaiming "I'm here because of TikTok" and other similar variations.
