According to CNET's report on Tuesday, Oct.19, the news about Facebook's rebranding will happen in the upcoming annual Connect conference on Oct.28, as per the claim of an anonymous source.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of the social media giant would discuss further details about the new Facebook name. More importantly, this action would involve the emergence of metaverse to the app.

Recently, the company opened 10,000 jobs across Europe as part of its metaverse venture. Zuckerberg said that the move would accelerate the development of AR glasses and other hardware for the project.

Besides its plans for metaverse, Facebook could have another reason for rebranding. This could also be a way to separate Facebook's upcoming projects from the massive public outrage.

In line with this, a new FB whistleblower surfaced to provide strong proof that the social media company failed to combat election interference. The ongoing allegations against the company continue as more internal documents are brought by its former employee, Frances Haugen.

Facebook 'Horizon Worlds' Metaverse

From an article reported by The Verge, Facebook's plans of giving itself a fresh identity have something to do with the "Horizon Worlds" metaverse. Currently, the company has not yet released the VR-based app.

The original name of the user metaverse was "Facebook Horizon." However, the firm chose to alter its name into "Horizon Worlds" after the company unveiled the "Horizon Workrooms" demo version.

In an interview with The Verge's Casey Newton last summer, Zuckerberg said that the metaverse would be one of the main focuses of the company in its next social media venture.

The billionaire also added that it would be the "next big chapter" for the company that's why they are exerting extra efforts for its development.

Diving Into Facebook Metaverse Space

Tech Times highlighted that the metaverse project would follow the internet on its legacy. Facebook sees this opportunity as a way to improve the economy and the society of all users.

The integration of 3D media would allow people to access some features in a virtual reality space. It would also help them for work and gaming purposes.

The word metaverse was first used in 1992 by a "Snow Crash" novelist Neal Stephenson. In this book, the protagonist interacts with the virtual world to thwart the enemies. He does all of his jobs using his avatar.

Before metaverse arrives, it's important to know its three significant points including standardization, presence, and interoperability.

Truly, the metaverse could be the next big thing in the following years. Just like other apps, the users should use Facebook's virtual space responsibly.
