2021 is a few weeks away from coming to a close, and now is a good time to look back at the year that has been. There have been a couple of hiccups along the way, but there are still many good things about 2021, such as the release of some pretty awesome video games. 

The COVID-19 pandemic may have delayed the release of many titles, but many developers and studios have pushed through to release promised games this year. In this Tech Times article, we rundown the best video games of 2021. 

Best Video Games of 2021: 'Deathloop'

"Deathloop" is a first-person shooter game that CNET describes as "the best reason there is right now to buy a PlayStation 5." It also has a version for Microsoft Windows. The game was released in September.

The game is pretty much a murder puzzle game that follows the story of an assassin named Colt. Colt finds himself stuck in a time loop with a mission to take out eight targets before midnight strikes. 

Best Video Games of 2021: 'Hitman 3' 

"You might think 'Hitman 3' is a stealth game, or an action game, or a third-person shooter with delightfully wacky weaponry," Kotaku says of this January 2021 release. 

"You'd be wrong," the article adds. Instead, Kotaku describes "Hitman 3" as a brilliant puzzle game. It continues the story of Agent 47 as he and his allies hunt down the leaders of a secret organization called Providence. 

The game is playable on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, and Stadia.

Best Video Games of 2021: 'It Takes Two'

The fact that "It Takes Two" has just been named as the Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021 already proves that it deserves a place in this list. Not only that, it also won Best Family Game and Best Multiplayer Game. 

Released in March, "It Takes Two" is an action-adventure platform game released in March by Hazelight Studios and Electronic Arts (EA). PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows feature split-screen cooperative multiplayer gameplay. 

Best Video Games of 2021: 'Resident Evil Village' 

2021 is a big year for Capcom's best-selling franchise as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. The video game developer sure knows how to celebrate with a bang with "Resident Evil Village" in May. 

"Resident Evil Village" is the direct sequel of "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" and continues the story of Ethan Winters, who is now on a quest to find and save his kidnapped daughter. The game is playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Windows, and Stadia. 

Best Video Games of 2021: 'Unpacking' 

"Unpacking" is pretty much a video game about unpacking boxes, according to the article by CNET. 

"Unpacking is a video game about moving house and putting objects in the right place, but it's also a unique tale about the objects that make up our lives," says CNET. It is playable on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.
