The first-person shooter video game developed by GSC Game World will now allow players to enter a dystopian world. In this realm, they could become a non-playable character (NPC) in exchange for crypto tokens.

"Heart of Chernobyl" team has announced that it would join the NFT hype just a week after Ubisoft's announcement about incorporating blockchain to "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint."

According to a report by Digital Trends, the blockchain hype for "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2" is expected to feature-rich and deep gameplay--that's why a lot of players are anticipating a bigger picture for it.

Per GSC Game World CEO Evgeniy Grygorovych, the FPS game will add an NFT-focused program which will be dubbed as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Metaverse. The NFT platform DMarket will be in charge of handling this segment.

There is a certain tension towards blockchain and NFTs because lots of things have been done improperly in the space," Grygorovych said amid NFT backlash.

The game publisher said that the game will be the "first AAA game" to enter the metaverse. The latest release noted that blockchain technology would allow players to own their portion of the game.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Metaverse NFT Auction

The same tech publication revealed that users interested in diving into the "Stalkers" metaverse by next month can start registering for the NFT auction in 2022. The publisher mentioned that by February, there would be another series of "secretive" drops to happen.

At the time of writing, there's no mention of a particular object that gamers should purchase. Again, the press release indicated that these upcoming items would not affect the previous gameplay of the players. Instead, it would give them an upper hand before the trading period kicks off in April.

According to DMarket, the purchased NFT items could be used in other platforms under GSC Game World. More so, you could transfer these items to other games to serve a different purpose depending on your liking.

'S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2' NPC

In another report from NME, "Heart of Chernobyl," players could do a unique activity in the metaverse game. The game will give all of them a chance to be an official in-game NPC or "metahuman."

Their appearance will be scanned, and their faces will be deployed to the game through photogrammetry to make it more interactive. Currently, only one metahuman spot will be made available for the initial NFT auction next month.

The spots for this feature will be limited in the meantime to give select gamers an option to become NPC prior to the game's release on April 8, 2022. Xbox Series S | X and PC gamers will soon access "Stalker 2."

Elsewhere, an NFT seller mistakenly sold Bored Ape Yacht Club collectible for only $3k. The pricing should be $300k, and the seller admitted that it was only brought by a simple error of adding more zeros to the original value.
