Do you want to learn how to make Instagram filters yourself? It is quite understandable if you want to make your own and feel like stock filters are getting too tiring to use.

Fortunately, learning how to do so is simple. All you have to do is follow this guide, and you'll be making your own filters in no time.

How To Make Instagram Filters? Get The Spark AR Studio

Your first order of business is getting a special tool called the Spark AR Studio, according to The Verge. This tool is available to all IG users after being only available to beta testers and Facebook users.

To make your first filter, download and install Spark AR Studio from its official website onto your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to install it, then launch it when it's ready.

Once the program is running, you'll be greeted by a splash screen that will let you play around with so many different filters to start. These Samples will get you started on your first project, so click whichever you think tickles your fancy.

After you're done poking around in the settings, you can save your project on your computer by clicking the "File" button, then clicking "Save." And there! You have created your first filter using a Template!

Making Changes/Creating Your Own

Naturally, you might want to make a few tweaks to a sample project. As per Hootsuite, what you must do to get started is play around with the "Scene" tab, where you'll play around to edit a certain filter. From there, you can literally do whatever you want!

But if you want to make your own filter from scratch, YouTuber Ben Marriott goes through the basics of doing just that in this video:

As you can see there, you'll learn about options that let you play around with a bunch of different textures, meshes, and almost everything else. There's no guide for making art, so do whatever it is you feel fun.

Why Make Your Own IG Filters?

Now, some of you might be asking why you should learn to make your own filters instead of just using whatever is available. There are different answers depending on what kind of Instagram user you are.

If you're a typical, run-of-the-mill individual user that's only in it for fun, then there's nothing bad about trying out something new, right? But if you're a public figure or a brand who wants to raise awareness about what/who you are and what you do, then custom filters are a great tool for creating a buzz on this popular social media platform.

This is even more true if you're trying to reach a younger audience, who are quite enamored with filters. According to Hootsuite, a good 67% of all IG users are within the 18-29-year-old age bracket.

Furthermore, businesses comprise roughly a third of profiles that have the most-viewed content on the platform, like IG Stories-where these filters can be of great use.
