An app researcher discovered that Twitter could be developing Close Friends feature which is similar to Instagram's.

9to5Mac spotted earlier this week that self-proclaimed developer Nima Owji posted that the upcoming Twitter feature seems to be nearing its completion. He noticed that the Circle function is somehow complete since he managed to tweet from it.

Based on the screenshots that he included in his recent tweet, the post might look normal as it appears.

However, there's a green bar below it which indicates that only Nima's friends on the Twitter Circle can see his tweet. It's quite similar to what the platform did when it launched Super Follows for its subscribers.

In relation to these findings, TechCrunch previously reported that the social media site was considering adding a feature that will allow users to tweet between different accounts.

The so-called Trusted Friends was just a brief concept back then which could aid a lot of users who were relying on multiple personas. However, many months have passed and there was no news that came out about this feature.

Earlier this year, Alessandro Paluzzi, a developer, revealed that this feature became "Flock."

"You can see this Tweet because the author has added you to their Flock." This should make it easy to distinguish between close friends versus everyone else you follow on Twitter. To send a tweet to your Flock, it looks like Twitter will display an audience option before you send it out, letting you choose between all of Twitter and your selected users," he wrote.

With regards to what Owji discovered, the Instagram-like Close Friends feature has adopted the name "Flock" for the mobile version. Meanwhile, its web counterpart will use "Circle."

Owji added that he discovered this on the "Learn More" page. This will further explain that Twitter will be using Circle instead of Flock.

As of the moment, Twitter has not yet announced any news about the launch date of this feature. Nima noted that the visibility of Twitter Circle tweets is all over google already. However, he said that there are still bugs in the program.
