NotebookCheck.net that the latest speculation has Vivo's new foldable sporting not one, but two ultrasonic fingerprint sensors. Both of these sensors are rumored to be integrated within the display, with its two display panels apparently having one each.

An image was posted on the Chinese social media site Weibo of the two panels, and they look like this:

The image came from leaker Feiwei, who also said that the two fingerprint sensors might even be considered ultrasonic (an advanced variant of typical fingerprint sensors in smartphones). Otherwise called in-display fingerprint readers, these sensors work by capturing your fingerprint using ultrasound, writes Pocket-Lint

What this means is that the Vivo X Fold's fingerprint sensors could work like almost no other sensors out there. You will be able to use them even if your fingerprints are messy, like when your hand is wet or oily after you used some lotion. But until Vivo reveals official information on the phone, this will remain a rumor.

What Else Is Known About The Vivo X Fold So Far?

For now, there's really not much. Various outlets say that the X Fold is Vivo's official answer to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Oppo Find N, and the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold, to name a few.

GSMArena, however, shared an image of the rumored phone "in the wild" so to speak. In the image, a clearly foldable phone was being used by a person riding the Chinese subway. It reportedly had a thick protective case, which is a purported attempt to keep it away from prying eyes. The image was once again shared first on Weibo

Should You Own A Foldable Smartphone In 2022?

Foldable smartphones are all the rage these days, with even big brands like Samsung and Apple (though a foldable iPhone might not come until 2025) taking a crack at it. But since normal smartphones are still pretty good, should you buy into the foldable hype?

According to Digital Trends, there are several reasons why you should upgrade to a foldable soon-and perhaps check out the Vivo X Fold when it comes out. One of these reasons is the display, which is made of far more scratch-resistant glass. If you're prone to cracking your screen on almost all of the phones you've had in the past, then maybe that could be your saving grace.

Aside from that, there's also the promise of practicality. If you love reading ebooks or browsing the web, for instance, it is easier to do those things on a foldable with its wider screen size that you can flip open when you need it. Or maybe you'd like the functionality of a tablet but without the bulk of one, for when you need to whip up a stylus to sketch on-the-go.

At the end of the day, though, it will be your decision alone whether you want to get one. What do you think?
