Although Konami has seen massive success with the "Silent Hill" franchise, the company just recently announced that it would launch a skateboard.

Although some fans have found it to be interesting, others are wondering about the possibility of having a new game.

Silent Hill #2 Skateboard

According to a tweet by Wario64, Konami just announced a new Silent Hill #2 skateboard. The statement was paired with a screenshot from the official Konami shop saying "Are you ready for #2?"

Although this could be initially interpreted as a potential reboot or another game, the screenshot included text in white on the bottom saying that "The Silent Hill Limited Edition Board Collection is coming back."

How Merch Has

Most of the time, companies launch merch to hype up a game before, during, or shortly after launch. This can be seen with "Cyberpunk 2077"  launching numerous merch, including jackets, a PC casing, an Oppo phone, even shoes.

Despite mixed reactions regarding "Cyberpunk 2077's" game launch, however, CD Projekt Red showed how marketing can be a powerful tool that can be used to hype up an upcoming game.

In contrast, there are also games and franchises that, up to this day, have still been releasing merch even if it has been years since the game come out.

'Pokemon's' Successful Merch

An example of this is "Pokemon," specifically with its cards being traded for a lot of money. As seen in an article by Dicebreaker, the one of the most expensive Pokemon card ever sold is a Blastoise that fetched $360,000 at an auction.

While "Pokemon" merch remains extremely celebrated, the same, however, cannot really be said regarding Konami merch, especially the Konami Silent Hill merch.

An article written by The Gamer in February 2021, however, detailed a very different approach for Konami. According to the article, during that time, the official Konami merch shop had zero "Silent Hill" items for fans to buy.

These days, that is no longer the case. As of press time, Konami already has 32 Silent Hill items that can be purchased on its Official Konami Store.
