Steam shares all of your gameplay activity by default. But if you are playing a game that you want to keep a secret from others, you can hide your activities from your friends. Here's how to do it.

Hide Your Played Games From the Steam Profile

Your Steam profile page usually lists all of the games that you have been playing and it also shows the number of hours that you have spent in all of them. The profile also focuses on the games that you have been playing in the last two weeks, according to HowtoGeek. 

Steam profiles used to be public by default, but Valve made the profiles private by default instead. Still, you need to make your profile public if you want it to work with a third-party service that reads your information, like IsThereAnyDeal, which scans your wish list for games and alerts you if they are on sale on game stores.

To access your Steam profile, click on your username and select "Profile." Next, select "Edit Profile" located at the right side of the page to edit your Steam profile.

Next, choose "Privacy Settings" at the left side of the page for find the profile privacy options. Adjust the privacy settings so you can control what others see. To hide your gameplay, you have two options.

First, you can hide your gameplay information by setting the game details to "Private." No one else will be able to see the games that you are playing, the games that you won, or the games that you placed in your wish list.

People can still see your friends list, comments, inventory, and other information, depending on the options that you have selected on the page, according to GroovyPost.

The second option is that you can could just hide everything by setting your profile option to "Private." If you do, no one else can see your entire profile page. You also have the option to choose "Friends Only," and only your Steam friends will be able to view your profile.

Hide Your Gameplay Activity From Steam Chat

If you are okay with the game listed on your profile page but you do not want your friends to get notified if you play the game or see that you are playing it, then you can go offline or become invisible on the Steam chat, according to Game Revolution.

To be able to activate this option, choose "Friends" button located at the top left of the window and choose "Offline" or "Invisible."

Also, you can choose "Friends & Chat" in the bottom right-hand corner to bring up the Steam Chat window. Next, click the small arrow next to your username. Choose "Invisible" or "Offline" from the drop down menu.

Hide Games From Your Steam Library

If you wish to hide a game from the library on your PC, you can just set it to "Hidden" or just remove it from your Steam library.

To do this, right-click the game and select "Manage." Next, click "Hide this game." People will access to the game details on your profile will still be able to see your achievements and playtime. However, anyone with access to your PC won't see the game in your Steam library.
