Despite the PlayStation 5 being around for more than a year, numerous buyers have reported difficulty when it comes to purchasing the console. With that, a new Best Buy PS5 restock was spotted online.

Best Buy PS5 Restock Spotted: Disc Version Being Sold

As per the tweet by PS5 Stock Alerts, the new restock is selling the disc version of the PS5 allowing users to use their analog collection on the new console. There is, however, a twist should buyers be interested in buying the restock on Best Buy.

A follow-up tweet by PS5 Stock Alerts, a PS5 restock tracker Twitter account, says buyers will need a TotalTech membership subscription to purchase the console online. The only way to add the new PS5 disc version to the cart would be if the buyer has the membership.

Report Says the Use of Bots are Helping Scalpers Wipe Out PS5 Supply

The same approach has also been seen in other PS5 restocks, requiring buyers to have memberships to the respective online store selling the consoles. With a solid demand but a limited supply, buyers still struggle to purchase the console online.

One major hindrance for buyers in purchasing the console online is due to scalpers. As reported in an article by IGN, bots have been making buying the PS5 restock online much harder for individuals due to them placing automatic orders whenever the restock pops up.

The Shift Into Online Purchases has Also Helped Prevent Buyers from Buying the PS5 Restock

After scalpers clear the store out of any PS5 restock, the consoles are resold at higher prices online. One reason scalpers have been able to do this is how the pandemic shifted most purchases online instead of in-store.

Unlike previous console launches in-store, buyers would get a fair chance of purchasing the console as long as they don't mind lining up to wait for their turn to buy the console from a store's physical location.

Scalpers are Taking Advantage of Bots for Online Purchases

However, with online purchases, scalpers have been using bots to give them an unfair advantage. Another layer of difficulty for some buyers is the online retailers selling the console only to buyers with memberships.

This means that to increase one's chances of buying the console, the buyer would need to first have a membership with the online retailer. Although this is not always the case, being a member increases one's chances of purchasing the console.

How Buyers Can Increase Their Chances of Buying the PS5 Restock Online

One other way that buyers can increase their chances is by making sure their accounts are already verified with no more information needed when checking out. Reports have been surfacing of buyers on their way to check out but missed a few details leading them to miss their chance to purchase the console online.
