Other countries, other than Taiwan, have been using Tesla EVs, such as the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model S, as part of their police fleet.

It comes as some police departments have concluded that maintaining electric vehicles is much cheaper than their fuel-powered counterparts.

This time around, Tesla Model 3 EVs are now joining the police cars of another country, Taiwan.

As per a news story by Tesla North, the Kaohsiung City of Taiwan now has two new Tesla Model 3 EVs, which will be used by its police department as patrol cars.

The news outlet further noted that the two new EVs of the Kaohsiung City police are the first-ever Tesla patrol cars in the East Asian nation.

As it turns out, the Ching Chan Optical Technology and Tianzhen Foundation donated the two Model 3 sedans to the City of Kaohsiung. The move seeks to help the police force in the Taiwanese city to both prevent and detect crime.

Tesla North noted that the Tesla Model 3 is the best-selling EV in the world last Feb. 2022. But it is interesting to point out that another Tesla vehicle, the Model Y sits in the first spot.

Also, in a vote shareholders backed Elon Musk as chairman and CEO.

The first Model 3 will be given to the Kaohsiung City Municipal Police Station. On the other hand, the other one is going to the criminal investigation team of the Hunei District.

Similar to the reason that other police departments in various parts of the world cited, the Chairman of Tianzhen Foundation, Chen Sung-tian, offered that the Tesla EVs have less maintenance costs.

Taiwan English News said in its report that the savings cost from the maintenance of the two new Tesla police cars could be used for other expenses of the department.

Meanwhile, the Kaohsiung City Government Police Department issued its appreciation for the donation, wherein it further praised the performance of the Model 3 sedan, which could help in both police morale and the overall social order in the city.
