With the success of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, leaks are starting to pop up regarding Samsung's move to upgrade the camera of the Galaxy Z Fold 4. With that, leaks are pointing towards at least one camera being upgraded.

Changes Found in the Previous Galaxy Z Fold Devices

According to the story by SlashGear, despite the success of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, there were certain moves that felt like a step back. Although the S-Pen was introduced once again, the company received criticism regarding no updates being done to the device since 2019.

The article notes that fortunately, Samsung is aiming to change this with its new next-gen Galaxy Z Fold by providing it with a "better shot" due to potential camera upgrades. To be clear, the publication notes that at least one camera could be upgraded with no specifics as to how.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Could Drop MP Count from 12MP to 10MP Through 'Upgrade'

Although pixel count does play a part when it comes to photo quality, when it comes to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, upgrades were made despite using the same Galaxy Z Fold 2 12 MP main sensor and the original 2019 Galaxy Fold 12MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom.

According to GalaxyClub, the company will finally be upgrading its camera with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. As noted, certain sources are claiming that the telephoto camera will get an "upgrade" to a "10MP sensor with 3x optical zoom."

Galaxy Z Fold 4 Could have More In Common with the Galaxy S22 Series

This could mean that the company's upcoming foldable will become more similar to the Galaxy S22 series camera. To note, despite sounding like a downgrade when it comes to pixel count, the new camera could sport some other improvements, including Dual PDAF, pixel size, and stabilization of optical images.

SlashGear notes that a lot of excitement is currently circling around the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 for fans of foldables that were not content with the company's previous Galaxy Z Fold 3. There are also rumors regarding the upcoming device sporting an S-Pen silo which could be close due to the recent Galaxy S22 Ultra having the pen as well.

Possibility of an S-Pen for the New Samsung Device

The possibility of an S-Pen, however, lies more on whether or not Samsung will be able to fit it in a smaller device or make a different S-Pen in order for it to fit in the foldable. To add, other rumors are also pointing towards the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 having reduced hinges from
"two to just one."

In theory, this would make the upcoming device thinner, lighter, and also more durable, which are a few things that remain important especially when owning a foldable smartphone. Although the changes could also cut down the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, it is more likely that Samsung will be compensating in certain parts in order for the company to retain its $1,800 price point.
