As per a news story by Kotaku, some PlayStation players were reporting that the issue is somewhat an odd occurrence as the expiration dates of the unplayable games are mostly already decades-old-long before the 2000s era.

It turns out that the digital purchases of PlayStation players are now applying decades-old expiration dates, making classical iconic gaming titles completely inaccessible.

Some of the classical games that have been affected by the expiration date mess include "Final Fantasy VI," "Chrono Cross," and "Chrono Trigger," according to a recent report by The Verge.
