SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - SEPTEMBER 20: Customers look at the latest iPhone models at Apple Store on September 20, 2019 in Sydney, Australia. Apple's latest iPhone 11 features dual rear cameras, including a wide angle camera.

He claimed that the new smartphone model would offer various camera enhancements, including the alleged autofocus upgrade. For the past few years, many professional photographers have debated the autofocus camera feature.

Some of them said it should be integrated on DLSRs instead of smartphones.

However, others rejected this idea, explaining that autofocus is better on handsets since they don't have enough movable components like those integrated into DLSRs.

"The front camera of four new iPhone 14 models in 2H22 would likely upgrade to AF (autofocus) & about f/1.9 aperture (vs. iPhone 13's FF (fixed-focus) and f/2.2)," said Ming-Chi Kuo via his official Twitter post.

Based on his statements, the new autofocus of the iPhone 14 will be partnered with other camera enhancements. For example, MacRumors explained that the wider f/1.9 aperture would allow more light to enter the lens of the new iPhone 14.

This will benefit the autofocus mode since it can help the cam feature to detect the subject more efficiently. On the other hand, the new Apple handset could also enhance its Portrait mode's depth-of-field effect.

Thanks to this, the autofocus can identify the subject faster since it can easily differentiate the main video or photo focus from the background.
