The Chaos Computer Club is Europe's biggest network of computer hackers and its annual congress draws up to 3,000 participants.

Mandiant, an American cybersecurity firm, confirmed that FIN12 had already conducted five successful ransomware attacks. Based on their observations, the hacking group's malicious campaigns are completed faster than the expected speed rates of other online attacks.

"A determine attacker only needs a few days to reach their objective, so organizations must remain vigilant and ready to respond," said Mandiant security experts via their official blog post

FIN12 Ransomware Group Faster Than Other Hacking Groups?

According to ZDNet's latest report, the ransomware attacks conducted by FIN12 can take less than two days. When the group was first identified, their malicious campaigns were commonly completed around five days.

However, they can now trigger a ransomware attack just two days after gaining initial access to their targeted networks.

If the ransomware completion time of FIN12 further shortens, it will be a great deal for companies since their systems can be infiltrated easily and quickly.

Aside from the decreased dwell time of FIN12, Mandiant cybersecurity experts also explained why the new ransomware group is quite different from other hacking groups.

FIN12 Ransomware Group is Different

Mandiant experts stated that the new FIN12 ransomware group is not focusing on user-sensitive data, which is the common scenario for other malicious gangs.

Although FIN12 doesn't rely on the usual hacking method, its malicious campaigns are usually successful. One of the main things that allow the new ransomware group to complete their online attacks is their targeted companies.

FIN12 usually focuses on organizations or companies that don't have enough cybersecurity protections. These include hospitals and healthcare firms.

Since these organizations always need their networks running, they easily give in to the demands of hackers targeting their networks.

Meanwhile, a REvil hacker was recently arrested.

Recently, the TrickBot malware was finally closed down.
