The new roadmap says that campaign co op is going to launch this August, though 343 didn't provide an exact release date. Windows Central also reports that this mode will come with the ability to replay story missions, which is something that "Infinite" has lacked from launch for some weird reason.

Many fans have been asking for campaign co op since launch, simply because it's been a part of the core "Halo" experience for so long. But 343 has delayed the release of the mode for the reason that they needed more time to iron things out. But now, it seems like things have changed for the better there, as Season 2 fast approaches.

The new release window for campaign co op is right on par with what the devs said back in early March. Back then, they said that the mode is not going to arrive with Season 2 this May, for the same reasons as listed above, as reported by The Verge. 343 wanted to make sure that the mode will provide a "high-quality, full-featured 4-player co op experience" within the game's world, which now sets the bar for expectations pretty high.

So get ready for the real thing, Spartans, as you won't need to glitch into campaign co op anymore.

More Season 2 Details

343 Industries shared more intimate details about the upcoming season in a blog post on Halo Waypoint, and they're all a doozy.

May 3rd is the expected release date for Season 2, titled "Lone Wolves." it brings with it a bunch of new maps and modes, as well as a lineup of major bug fixes intended to deal with problems that negatively impact player experience.

Among the new game modes players can enjoy are as follows: the long-awaited return of King of the Hill, as well as new modes in Land Grab and what looks to be "Halo's" own version of a battle royale: Last Spartan Standing. Here's what these modes are going to be like:

  • King of the Hill: It works just like so many "Halo" players remember, but 343 added a few "twists." Two teams of players battle to control a neutral hill which spawns somewhere on the map. Entering the hill uncontested will net a team 1 point once the capture bar is filled. After scoring, a new hill spawns somewhere else, and the battle to score points continues.

  • Land Grab: Three neutral zones will be up for the taking. A player capturing a zone will lock it out and give their team one point. As soon as all zones are captured, there will be a short intermission before three new zones spawn. The team who scores 11 points first, wins.

  • Last Spartan Standing: As previously mentioned, this is like the "Halo Infinite" version of a battle royale - but far smaller in scale. Twelve players spawn on a Big Team Battle map, each with five lives. Anyone who gets a kill gets to upgrade to a new weapon. But run out of lives, and it's game over. Fortunately, you can spectate or leave a match without a penalty after you run out of respawns.
