With around 328 million users worldwide, Twitter has gone from a small start-up in for the public 2006 to a broadcast tool of politicians and corporations in 2017.

This means that their total number of followers is starting to become unstable. After Elon Musk completely purchased the giant social media platform, many users claimed that they would leave the online site.

Twitter confirmed that many of them deleted their accounts. This means that the mass deactivation is organic since real people are leaving the platform.

The official Twitter account of U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene had around 539,000 followers before the official takeover of Elon.

After the massive Twitter purchase was made, her profile suddenly had more than 632,000. The giant social media platform explained that the American politician's account is one of the profiles that experience ongoing follower fluctuations.

"While we continue to take action on accounts that violate our spam policy which can affect follower counts, these fluctuations appear to largely be a result of an increase in new account creation and deactivation," said the giant online website.

A Twitter spokesperson added that most of the accounts that experience sudden follower count changes are owned by billionaires, celebrities, politicians, and other high-profile individuals.
