Here's how to properly clean your greasy air fryer and how often you should do it.

According to All Recipes, you first need to consider the dos and don'ts of using an air fryer. As a matter of fact, you need to take note of this before you try the deep cleaning process.

Refrain from soaking the air fryer in water. There's a possibility that its electrical component will be damaged. You need to avoid it at all costs.

Bear in mind that you need to unplug your air fryer before proceeding with the cleaning process.

Do not use abrasive sponges, wire brushes, and metal utensils in scraping dirt on your fryer. It can potentially remove the non-stick coating.

In case you smell an undesirable odor coming from it, try cleaning it with an old toothbrush or toothpick. The leftovers on the air fryer will remain, and some of them will burn, resulting in a foul odor.

If you want to get rid of any foul odor, you can rub half of a lemon on the cooking surface. Before you clean this tool, just let it sit for half an hour.

Rely on using safe cleaners. Do not use unapproved disinfectants.

Deep Cleaning an Air Fryer

A similar report says that you need a damp microfiber cloth, baking soda, dish soap, clean (and dry cloth), and a soft-bristle brush.

To deep clean your fryer, here's what you need to know.

  1. Begin by unplugging the device after using it. Wait for at least 30 minutes to cool it down.
  2. Wash the pans and baskets using hot, soapy water. Before you proceed to scrub the greasy area with a sponge, soak the parts in soapy (hot) water.
  3. Read the manual to see if the dishwashers are safe to clean or not.
  4. Proceed to wipe down the area using a damp microfiber cloth. For the finishing touch, use a clean damp cloth to eliminate the soap.
  5. After that, turn the air fryer upside down and wipe the heating element using a sponge or a damp cloth.
  6. There might be a big residue of food on your appliance. In this case, mix the baking soda and water to form a paste that you will scrub with the soft-bristle brush. Clean the rest of the parts with a neat cloth.
  7. Continue cleaning but this time, in the exterior part.
  8. Before assembling the air fryer again, dry first all of the parts.

Speaking of the frequency of cleaning it, you can automatically cleanse it after each use. You can also clean your fryer after every few uses.
