Elon Musk says that hydrogen energy storage tech is useless. He shared this opinion of his during an interview at the Financial Times "Future of the Car" summit event, which happened on Tuesday, May 10.

"I really can't emphasize this enough - the number of times I've been asked about hydrogen, it might be ... it's well over 100 times, maybe 200 times," said the billionaire during the live broadcast of Financial Times' event.
He even described hydrogen as a tool for energy storage as a "dumb" thing. Well, this is not unusual at all since Musk has been quite open about his skepticism about the technology.
Elon Musk Says Hydrogen Energy Storage is Useless
According to CNBC's latest report, Elon Musk explained why he is against the use of hydro energy storage technology. The popular tech CEO stated that using hydrogen will need bigger tanks.

Although gaseous energy relies on larger containers, the tanks needed to store hydrogen are still quite large compared to when it comes to storing electric energy.
But, other agencies are seeing hydrogen energy storage tech in a more optimistic way. One of them, the International Energy Agency, claims that this type of power storing method is a versatile energy carrier.
The agency added that hydrogen could be deployed in different sectors, such as transport and industry since it has a diverse range of applications that are quite useful.
Why Elon Musk Bashes Hydrogen Energy Storage
Despite the positive statements of various energy agencies regarding the use of the hydro method, Elon Musk remains stiff regarding his skepticism.
In 2020, the billionaire said that fuel cells are like "fool sells." He said that the electrolysis or hydrocarbons used by hydro cells are unnatural.
Musk further explained that when you crack hydrocarbons, the fossil fuel issue is not really resolved. On the other hand, electrolysis is not that efficient as well.
