Stellantis is going on a new venture, and it is with South Korea's Samsung to build its line of electric vehicle batteries that it will use for future EVs of the company. The partnership also chose a new location to build their plant, and it is in Indiana where they will erect the $2.5 billion manufacturing facility that will help boost its production.

Stellantis announced via a press release that it is partnering with Samsung SDI. The venture would focus on electric battery manufacturing, soon opening its doors on a new plant. The plant's location would be in Kokomo, Indiana, and there the companies would erect their production facility that will focus on power cells.

The target opening date would be in 2025, and it is the same time when Stellantis would launch its Jeep 4xe electric SUVs to the public, and it may or may not receive the power cell. The manufacturing plant aims to produce 23 gigawatt-hours (GWh) before increasing its production to 33 GWh.

The release said that the batteries would supply Stellantis' North American assembly plants

The plant's construction will begin later this year, and it is expected to start its initial operations by 2025, particularly in the first quarter of the year. The plant's opening is not only providing an opportunity for Stellantis vehicles to improve, but it also aims to offer 1,400 jobs in the area and the surrounding places of Kokomo.

Stellantis and its EVs

Stellantis from the Fiat Chrysler group is one of the massive names in the electric car industry now, especially as it commits itself to produce massive units of its EVs by 2030. The company supports the goal of the Biden administration to have EVs in the country by 2030, and by the arrival of the next decade, it will only focus on this venture.

One of Stellantis' earliest takes on EVs is its upcoming release of the first Jeep SUV that will feature a battery-powered vehicle that will bring clean energy transportation for all. The 4xe model is coming by 2025, and the lineup would get Jeep vehicles a new electric drivetrain that would focus on having available for everyone.

The accessibility of electric cars is a massive change in the automotive landscape today, and it focuses on features that adhere to modern needs and preferences, unlike the takes before. Now, Stellantis and Samsung are joining forces to bring EV batteries to the cars that the former company will get, becoming an essentially self-sustaining manufacturer.
