One of these is the Springboard reference of the backlight management frameworks mentioned in the iOS 16 beta code. The Springboard is a tech that manages the home screen and lock screen of Apple smartphones.

Aside from this, there are also some code flags that Apple engineers can use to test the new always-on display on the current iPhone 13 Pro models.

When it comes to availability, experts stated that if the advanced always-on display feature really arrives in the upcoming Apple handsets, it will be exclusive for only two iPhone 14 Pro models.

This is because they are the versions that are expected to have the tech firm's ProMotion variable refresh rate, which is another important factor of the always-on display function.

Smartphones With Always-On Display Feature

As of writing, the always-on display feature is still unavailable on iOS devices. On the other hand, this screen function is already widely available in Android devices.

Models, such as  OnePlus, ASUS, Oppo, Realme, Samsung, and other giant Apple competitors already have it. XDA Developers explained that smartphone users should definitely care about the advanced always-on display.

One of the benefits it offers is allowing you to see essential information, such as time, without even unlocking your handset. This comes in handy in various emergency scenarios.

In May, some rumors claimed that iPhone 15 pill notch is likely to arrive.
