Landing on Facebook is the Unreal Engine 4-built worlds and game creation platform called Crayta, which has remained at the forefront of metaverse applications for the budding designer. Via its official launch on the media site, Facebook users can now utilize Crayta tools for free to build all the awesome concepts through the site itself, without the necessity of a full PC. 

Crayta was first teased as a newfound proponent of Facebook following the tech giant's purchase of Unit 2 Games back in July of last year, which saw Crayta's cloud-streaming technology under the firm as the acquisition's main driver. The platform would no sooner become pivotal to Facebook Gaming's structure in its approach to broadening its overall Web3 foothold and building a more robust ecosystem around the field. 

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, voiced his excitement about the official launch in a Facebook blog post, showing off not only various Crayta gameplay but also giving his own rather intriguing Crayta review. He writes:

"With our cloud-streaming tech, it's really fast to build on both mobile and desktop even if you don't have a powerful system. I recently jumped into Crayta with some talented creators to talk about the future of gaming while building Meta's iconic Hacker square." 

In its own social media post, Meta likewise called Crayta "a platform that lets you build and play games with your friends in real-time." Built on Unreal Engine 4, the platform looks almost akin to Roblox and Fortnite, allowing it both versatility in its 3D world designs and fluidity across all workflows, letting creators share their games with friends with all but a single link. In addition to its incredible tools and gameplay, Crayta likewise has an elongated list of user-generated content, much like the aforementioned Roblox. 

Unit 2 describes Crayta gameplay as a platform that "offers a vast array of detailed meshes and voxel materials for creators to build with, alongside scripting language Luna to add mechanics to their worlds." It comes packed with a myriad of content for users to enjoy, and those already made by other creators can be cross-utilized for incredible versatility. Unit 2 also adds both seasonally themed and quarterly content to the mix, allowing Crayta a seemingly infinite lifespan. 

The Crayta game originally launched on Google Stadia back in 2020, later expanding to the Epic Games store in 2021, allowing PC players to dive into the action. With its new integration into Facebook Gaming, Crayta will give tons of users a chance to devise their immense imaginations through simple workloads and streamlined cloud-based software, all for free.

"A lot of times today, people think about the metaverse as 3D experiences you can have in virtual and augmented reality, but I think what Crayta shows is that you can both build and enjoy these kind of experiences really easily on all kinds of 2D environments including just within the Facebook App on phones and on computers," Zuckerberg details amid the Facebook Gaming demo.
