China is catching up with the United States when it comes to space exploration. This time, the Shenzhou-14 taikonauts are on their way to conduct some science experiments on Tianhe after touching down at the space station a month ago.

Chinese astronauts Chen Dong (C), Liu Yang (R) and Cai Xuzhe (L), crew of the Shenzhou-14 spaceflight mission scheduled to be launched on June 5, attend a press conference at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in Northwest Chinas Gansu Province on June 4, 2022.

According to CCTV.com, on Thursday, July 7, the three Chinese astronauts are preparing to launch several experiments as part of their space station exploration.

As we know, China's space station is currently engaging in scientific ventures. Since it can hold 25 experiment cabinets, there's a lot of room to showcase to discover interesting objects in the core module.

The Shenzhou-14 taikonauts will be assigned to carry out operations that will help them determine the condition of the space module. After the experiment, they can determine if space life will be suited for long-term travel.

To safely thrive in a different environment for half a year, the Chinese astronauts will install a special device to reduce the station's carbon dioxide levels.

The report says that the three astronauts had undergone several examinations and medical aid training to see if they were fit for the upcoming space mission.

Chen Dong, the commander of the three-man crew, has been testing out a spacesuit. This would be useful in monitoring if there will be no problem when they go to Wentian this month.

Interestingly, the taikonauts could make use of the experiment cabinets on the orbit core module. These would help the members to perform necessary tests on their bodies via "diverse online detection" methods. The techniques include microscopic imaging, fluorescence, and visible light.

It should be noted that the crew mission will allow the astronauts to engage in physical workouts. This experiment aims to decrease the microgravity exposure on the participants' bodies.

Last Tuesday, July 5, the Chinese space agency shared a clip of Liu Yang gathering paper stars inside a bottle. The female Chinese astronaut was spotted wearing a light pink waistcoat at the time. The video has garnered over 1.2 million views so far.

As per the deputy chief designer of the space mission, Wu Dawei, the three taikonauts are all young and lively with "good physical, operational, and psychological conditions."

China Moon Takeover

According to Aljazeera's report earlier this week, the chief of NASA grew worried following Beijing's claim that it would take over the moon to expand its aerospace program.

Bill Nelson, the current administrator of the international space agency, said that everyone should be concerned over China's ambition to use the moon for its space program.

China reportedly first landed on the lunar surface in 2013 in line with its first-ever unmanned mission.

Meanwhile, Chinese scientists have utilized a drag sail to remove the increasing junk in space, per Tech Times.
