The upcoming Apple Watch Pro's price is rumored to be close to $900, with the company potentially dropping the "Edition" model.

The Apple Watch Pro Could Mean the Company Dropping the 'Edition Model'

According to the story by Apple Insider, a "Pro" branding could be given to the Apple Watch Series 8 model. This means that the "Edition" model could be eliminated to make room for the product.

Different reports have been speculating that Apple is already working on a brand new model for its Apple Watches that might include a larger display and "a more protective case," which is intended for extreme sports and users that are highly active.

Rumors Say the New Watch Could be Designed to Appeal to Extreme Sports Athletes

Although there are some rumors that are saying that the Apple Watch could be "rugged," a new one claims that the model will be borrowing suffix that is used in other products by the company. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg believes that the new Apple Watch will be called the Apple Watch Pro.

By adding the "Pro" to the new Apple Watch selection, the company will be growing the types of products it is offering under that model name. As per Gurman, "That smartwatch will be designed to appeal to extreme sports athletes and anyone who might otherwise buy a high-end Garmin sports watch for intense workouts."

What Makes the Edition Model Special

If Apple is releasing the Pro model, Apple could be pulling out the Edition model from the roster itself. The Edition model, which was originally encased in gold, was later on changed to stainless steel, titanium, and ceramic enclosures.

Apple Insider notes that the Edition model was considered the most premium version available, but a comment on the report noted that the Apple Watch Hermes edition was still the most premium version of the product.

Apple Watch Hermes Edition Still Costs More than the Rumored Pro Price

More details of the Apple Watch Hermes can be found on the Apple website. As seen on Hermes' website, however, the Series 7 Apple Watch Hermes Single Tour can be found selling for over $1,279, with other Apple Watch Hermes products being sold at over $1,200.

The Apple Watch Pro is expected to come out with its own bigger screen and larger battery. Other features included will be the S8 chip, a body temperature sensor, and more for the starting price of around $900.

No Word Regarding the Apple WatchOS Low-Power Mode

As per Gurman, the higher price could actually be justified by the new Apple Watch Pro models coming out with larger displays and using more premium materials.

Gurman also made certain speculations regarding the fate of the rumored low-power mode of Apple's watchOS. The watchOS' low power mode was thought to be shown off during the WWDC, but it did not appear.

As per the article, however, there could still be a huge chance that the mode will become available sometime in the future.
