Unreleased XPeng Flying Car Being Tested! New Video Shows HT Aero eVTOL With Vehicle Steering Wheel

Xiaopeng Huitian, an ecological enterprise owned by XPeng Inc. (a Chinese EV maker), posted the video on Wednesday, July 13.

"We are constantly experimenting with this "flying car manipulation logic" of land-air integration to verify its practical feasibility," said XPeng Huitian (now known as HT Aero after rebranding) via its official Weibo account.

The company added that they are also exploring new maneuvering methods they can integrate into their new XPeng flying car called "HT Aero eVTOL."

According to Electrek's latest report, the new flying car spotted on HT Aero's new video is not the latest prototype. Instead, the unit being tested is allegedly the X1 eVTOL version, which was introduced back in 2020.

Experts, who already watched the footage, claimed that the model featured an XPeng Motors branded steering wheel. This is a surprise since most flying vehicles sport a different kind of maneuvering tool (some of them are comparable to the steering equipment found in commercial airplanes).

Aside from this, the XPeng flying car also has a throttle located on the right part of the vehicle. It is believed that this throttle allows the driver to control the HT Aero eVTOL's movement; when going backward, forward, or reverse.

As of writing, it is still unclear if the flying car on the video is the model HT Aero will launch this coming 2024.

This is just one of the questions still unanswered by HT Aero. But, experts said that the Chinese tech manufacturer is certainly working on its new flying car so that it can provide further details in the future.

HT Aero's Flying Car Development

Before XPeng Huitian was rebranded as the HT Aero, it already shared its intent to develop its own flying car. Ever since it was founded by XPeng Inc. in 2013, it has already conducted around 15,000 manned flights.

The tech firm did this in hopes of combining automotive and aerospace technologies. HT Aero has been making efforts to develop safe, domestic flying vehicles that can be widely manufactured in China and later across the globe.

Its first prototype, T1 eVTOL, was introduced in 2019. After that, the X1 eVTOL was confirmed, which was followed up by another newer model called X2 eVTOL.

In 2021, 40 XPeng self-driving vehicles were launched.

Meanwhile, XPeng's robot unicorn was also confirmed to be under development.
